Aging on Sea Waves (Bâtir sur des vagues)

In 1995, five years after the declaration of the end of the civil war in Lebanon, speeches and photos of the reconstruction and the promises of the spring to come, overwhelm all the scenes and questions.

Is it really possible to reconstruct a country through privatisation and in partnership with those who destroyed it in the first place? At what cost?

    Born in Beirut in 1965, lives in Paris and Beirut.

    Maher Abi Samra studied drama arts at the Lebanese University in Beirut and audiovisual studies at the Institut National de l’Image et du Son near Paris. He then worked as a photojournalist. Since 1995, he has made several short and mid-length documentaries, among them We Were Communists and A Maid for Each.
